Remand for four detainees by truck with 71 dead people

   

Budapest. A judge of the court of the Hungarian town of Kecskemet custody today issued against four detainees allegedly linked to the tragedy of the 71 refugees found dead in a truck in eastern Austria.

Judge Kecskemet, about 100 kilometers north of Budapest, granted the request of prosecutors to establish a month of detention against the Bulgarians-three Afghan detainees and by "the exceptional nature of the offense" and to participate in an organized network of human trafficking, according to local media.

Prosecutors also alleged that there was a risk of leakage, potential actions of concealment and danger to influence the testimony of potential witnesses.

The four suspects would be the owner of the truck and drivers, and one of them is about 45 years old , while the rest would be between 20 and 30 years old .

On Thursday, Austrian police found in a refrigerated truck abandoned on the side of a highway the bodies of 71 people, probably Syrian refugees, and among the dead were four children.

The newspaper "Österreich" has calculated that in a space of just fifteen square meters and hermetically sealed, as was the case in the cargo compartment of the truck, 71 people had died from lack of oxygen after 63 minutes.

The Austrian authorities estimate that at the time of the discovery of the truck that victims had been killed between 24 and 36 hours.

The court in Kecskemet has taken over the case to determine the Hungarian police truck with group of Syrian refugees came from that town towards Austria.

Austrian agents took nearly 24 hours to count the number of bodies found, one above the other and in a state of decomposition, it had to lower first temperature, for which they took the truck to the premises of a school with a special system cooling.

The forensic medicine center of Vienna is now practicing autopsies on the bodies to determine the cause of death and gather data for possible identification.

Pending the outcome of the autopsy, it appears that the victims died asphyxiated, being locked in a cold room with no windows and hermetically sealed.
